After weeks of dust and drilling behind closed doors, Snap Fitness Pyrmont has finally re-opened — and the brand new, state-of-the-art gym is definitely worth the wait. The $1.9 million refurbishment is a total makeover, with all new facilities and equipment.
“It’s a massive renovation — probably one of the biggest ones we’ve ever done,” says Dan, National Manager for TBH Group who own a large number of Snap Fitness franchises in Australia and completed this renovation on behalf of the franchise owners.
“It’s a complete rebuild from floor to ceiling, new equipment…putting in top of the line equipment… pretty much all the equipment is the Technogym brand which is from Italy, so top of the line. Replacing all the floors, all the ceilings, complete bathroom renovations, and putting in a recovery zone, which is exciting.”
The recovery zone is available for all gym members and features the latest technologies in optimising post work-out recovery including an infrared sauna, compression therapy, and massage guns.
Unlike traditional saunas that use hot coals to gradually warm the air, infrared saunas use infrared heaters that are hot as soon as you switch them on. The radiant heat warms your body directly, not via the warmed room. Infrared saunas are said to be good for recovery as they dilate blood vessels which can help with detoxification and relaxation.
Compression therapy combines massage and compression to help stimulate blood flow, and is great as a warm up or warm down. Snap Fitness Pyrmont now has Normatec compression boots and Normatec massage guns; Normatec is a leader in providing this type of fitness technology.
One of Snap Fitness Pyrmont’s biggest draws is that it is open to members 24 hours. It’s great for shift workers, people who work in hospitality or basically anyone who works odd hours. It’s also appealing to those who prefer to train in a quieter, less crowded environment.
“There’s pretty much never a time in the gym when it’s empty…we’ve got people coming in to train at 2am, 3am, 4am…” says Dan.
Members can access the gym at any time using their membership card. In fact, they can access any Snap Fitness gym anywhere in the world. The gyms have security cameras running 24/7 as well as security monitoring and emergency buttons on site.
The gym is staffed from 9:30am to 7pm during which time there are personal trainers available to help you with your workout. Snap Fitness also frequently invites local health professionals to come into the gym and provide free assessments for members.
Snap Fitness Pyrmont has been at its current location for 10 years and has built up a good reputation and great relationship with local residents and businesses. With this new refurbishment, they hope to gain many more new members while making the existing members even happier.
