“There are rules for being a woman. Thou shalt burn the rules.” Combining storytelling with the poetry of comedian, burlesque artist and poet Nikki Viveca and the music of classically trained violinist Kitty San Pedro, The Femme Commandments is somewhere between “a poetry reading and an indie folk concert”, a celebration of living on your own terms, following no path other than the one that brings you closer to yourself. Defying the cis-tem, familial expectations and social ideas, Nikki and Kitty present a show that “voices resistance and offers hope and comfort.”
