One August night in 1994, the infamous Tasty Nightclub raid occurred.
More than 400 patrons of the beloved queer nightclub were unlawfully strip-searched by police, and the 7-hour ordeal resulted in a $6,000,000 class action lawsuit and an apology from the acting chief commissioner in 2014.
This August, the 30th anniversary of the Tasty Nightclub raid will bring together some of the original Tasty team, including Tasty residents DJs Peter McNamara and Gavin Campbell, and DJ Arlen de Silva.
Joining them will be 90’s legend DJ Debra Walters, and new local favourites Hip Hop Hoe, Sugar Plump Fairy and Bruno. There will be an abundance of queer talent, with film and video screenings, and DJ Philvester.
Plus – a recreation of the classic Tasty play area/darkroom, created by Trough X producer and designer Nik Dimopoulos.
