Well, well, well – All leathered up
Archaeologists have found items that give testament to how humankind has carved, moulded, worn, bound and used leather throughout history to get clothing, shelter, protection, armament and more.
Today, for some people, leather can be fashion or safety wear. For others, leather becomes part of their sexuality or even their lifestyle.
When describing the appeal and the arousing effect of leather, people use one or more of the five senses. In my case, the sight, smell, feel, and sometimes even the taste of leather make me think of masculinity. My brain brings up images from cherished memories that I consider sexy.
The leather scene involves a style of dress but there is also an association with BDSM practices (Bondage/Discipline, Dominance/Submission, Sado/Masochism, also called ‘SM’). Having said that, it doesn’t mean that one can happen without the other.
It does not matter what attracts you to the leather scene or how familiar you are with it, there is a major event coming up for you. The Melbourne Leather Pride festival offers a great opportunity to expand your horizons and learn more about leather and different sexual practices.
This year, with the Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men’s Health Centre as their health partner, the festival offers nine informative free workshops: watersports, breath play, bondage, impact play, drugs and sex were covered this week. However, coming up there are the following:
In the piercing, tattoos and scarification workshop on April 15, you will see the latest styles and specialist equipment and learn about safety and aftercare.
In the fisting workshop on April 18, you will gain a better understanding of human anatomy, health, communication, fisting techniques and spaces for play.
The cock and ball torture (CBT) workshop on April 19 will be a journey from the mild to the very wild in CBT. You will see the tools, understand the principles, and feel the weights.
The electrosex workshop is on April 21. Bring some spark into your sex life and do it safely with help from the experts. Learn about state-of-the-art technologies.
If the workshops are not what you’re looking for, but you still want to surround yourself in the leather scene, the fair day on April 17 is the way to go. If you are more interested in the social interaction with some of the hot guys in leather you’ve seen at the fair, I recommend WoofClub. It’s their sixth birthday and it is a fun, sexy party not to be missed.
