Come a-roving with ACON
While out partying have you ever seen one of those bright pink-vested volunteers, known as Rovers, in action? You or one of your partying mates may have been assisted by a friendly Rover. Maybe you thought, “I could do that”. Here’s your opportunity.
ACON Rovers are volunteers who provide health promotion services at dance parties and events. Each ACON Rover is trained, supervised and equipped to help patrons who require assistance when partying.
Rovers help people by providing information about alcohol and drugs and their impacts when partying, advice on looking after yourself and your friends, directions to on-site facilities. They also assist people get medical help if needed.
ACON Rovers are not security and are only concerned with people’s health and wellbeing.
This year will see the first GLBT festival weekend being held at Coffs Harbour — CoastOut. It will be an action-packed weekend with activities including dance events. ACON has been asked to provide Rovers at some of these events so we are calling for volunteers for CoastOut and for Tropical Fruits.
Are you outgoing, communicative and blessed with a good dose of common sense? If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
