NSW GLRL – thank you, everyone
Happy Mardi Gras, everyone! The NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby (GLRL) hopes you had a fun and safe season.
As another fabulous festival comes to an end we would like to thank everyone who contributed and made it such a successful season for the GLRL.
As a small, primarily volunteer-based organisation, we rely on the generosity of community members to support our ongoing work.
We would like to thank all those who kindly donated to the GLRL, by popping some money into one of our collection buckets or planting a heart at Fair Day or using our cloakroom facilities at Harbour Party and Toy Box.
We would like to thank New Mardi Gras (NMG) for giving us the opportunity to fundraise at Fair Day and Harbour Party and the organisers of Toy Box for letting us run the cloakroom.
We also thank NMG and the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association (SGLBA) for inviting the GLRL to collaborate on the Politicians Say Something event. On behalf of NMG and the SGLBA, the GLRL would like to thank the panel of MPs — Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP, Don Harwin MLC, Cate Faehrmann MLC, Trevor Khan MLC, Verity Firth MP — and our MC, Ricardo Goncalves. We are also grateful for everyone who bought tickets to this very informative community event.
We also thank everyone who volunteered their time, energy and skills to help the GLRL during what is one of our busiest times of the year. The contribution our volunteers make cannot be underestimated. Their efforts go a long way towards helping us achieve our goals for social justice and equality.
Thank you to all those who volunteered for various party events and those who contributed towards creating our ‘Yellow Brick Road to Equality’ float. Particular congratulations to Ben Fidden and Chris Brentin for helping to coordinate all our events this year.
Finally, a special thanks to our staff members, Senthorun Raj, Natasha Nair and our new Office Administrator, Steven Kennedy as well as our committee members Justin Koonin and Ben Keats for all their hard work.
