How to be MAG-netic
Thanks to the Star Observer I’m going to use this month’s column to convey some basic info about Mature Age Gays (MAG).
MAG comprises gay and bisexual men from all walks of life, including many professional men, both still working and retired.
MAG provides a safe, friendly venue to meet, socialise and become informed on topics pertinent to the health of our age group.
MAG has no political or religious affiliations and, as a project of ACON, celebrated its 19th anniversary in September 2010 at which we were honored to have former Justice of the High Court Michael Kirby as one of our guests. MAG is now the largest gay group in Australia meeting on a regular basis and the largest in the world catering to the needs and concerns of the mature age gay and bisexual man.
MAG publishes and distributes a newsletter every two months which contains matters of interest to members such as forthcoming speakers, social events and other activities, dates of fellow member’s birthdays and community contacts.
We meet on the second and last Saturday of every month at the ACON building at 9 Commonwealth St, Sydney and usually cater to 100 or so MAGs.
Members meet informally at 6:30pm for coffee and our formal meeting starts at 7pm.
The evening ends with a light smorgasbord supper of hot and cold food prepared by our catering sub-committee.
There is no charge except by donation!
In addition MAG hosts MAGnet at the Taxi Club Flinders St, Taylor Square every Wednesday evening where guys can play pokies, have a drink, enjoy a great and economical dinner menu and meet friends … just like you!
Why be alone? Come on down!
