Help us help you
The Inner City Legal Centre has developed a survey that seeks to understand the legal needs of LGBTI people living in NSW — now we are asking for your help to complete our survey.
The results will help us to develop and deliver better services that assist the LGBTI community with issues such as same-sex relationship advice, unfair treatment at work, difficulties with Government bodies and victims of violence or crime.
The Inner City Legal Centre is a specialised legal centre that provides advice and representation to people who are lesbian, gay or bisexual; people who are transgender; and people who are intersex (LGBTI) and living in New South Wales. In the 30 years we have been serving the community, we have advised on a wide array of legal and social issues. The people who seek our services come from as near as Kings Cross but also as far as Albury, Dubbo and the Tweed region.
Apart from what we have learned by working with LGBTI clients, there are many things about the legal problems and issues facing LGBTI people in NSW that we do not know. The purpose of our project is to fill that gap and to find out what legal needs are present across NSW. Importantly this will help us to establish if there are existing services that can assist LGBTI people who have legal needs, whether this involves unfair treatment by the police, advice on surrogacy, superannuation or changing your identity documents.
We need your help to better understand the types of legal problems and issues that LGBTI people are facing so we can work towards meeting those needs. Help us spread the word about our survey and please encourage people to take part — every response is valuable in helping us to develop and deliver better services to LGBTI people in New South Wales.
