Come one, come all
Registrations are now open for the first national (third biennial) LGBTIQ domestic violence conference.
The conference is being held on Friday, September 16 at the Rex Centre in Kings Cross and is being organised by the LGBTIQ Domestic Violence Interagency Working Group.
This year the conference will focus on the themes/impacts of social and cultural inclusion and diversity for LGBTIQ people and their families who are (or have ever) experienced domestic violence. The conference will explore the diversity of LGBTIQ communities and experiences, successful domestic violence prevention programs and initiatives and current service delivery barriers and gaps for people of diverse sex, sexuality and gender.
It’s shaping up to be a great day with a wide range of presenters from across Australia and some international perspectives as well.
The conference is also planning on having a youth panel discussion about safe and healthy relationships for young same-sex attracted and sex or gender diverse youth.
The purpose of this panel is to showcase how young same-sex attracted and sex or gender diverse youth feel about relationships. We want to find out if there are any challenges young people face when confronted with unacceptable behaviour in relationships, and what they would like to see in the future to assist them to enter into safe and healthy relationships.

Conference fee is $60 for full admission or $30 for concession.
