ACON Regional: Lots of local events
March is not only Mardi Gras time but also a time when many of our local event organisers have some action-packed events for you too.
There’s fun for would-be Hollywood starlets and studs at the Cocktails and Nite Club on Saturday, February 26 from 9pm. Dress as your favourite Hollywood icon for a chance to win a return trip to LA with five nights accommodation at the Beverly Garden in Hollywood.
Held at the same venue is the next Pride Sunday Session on Sunday, March 13. Dust off your lingerie as the theme is Burlesque. Destiny Haz Arrived will perform and Maude Boate will host. Doors open at 5.30pm. Shows kick off at 7pm. $12 cover charge.
For more music and good vibes, Saturday, March 12 is the next Delicious adventure, to be held at the Lismore Bowling Club. Delicious is produced by Frou Frou Productions. This month’s special guest is the elusive DJ Hubba.
Tropical Fruits Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday, February 27 from noon. Tropical Fruits is the largest regional GLBT social group in Australia and they are responsible for the New Year’s extravaganza at Lismore Showground and smaller parties during the year. They also plan daytime activities for Lismore’s queer community.
All GLBT community members welcome, although only financial members can vote. There’s a BBQ after the meeting. For details, call 02 6622 1555.
Training for anyone interested in becoming a Northern Rivers ACON volunteer will be held on Friday, March 25, 10am-3pm. Topics covered include an introduction to ACON, confidentiality issues and professional boundaries. Call Sioux for details.
If you are attending Mardi Gras, take care of yourself and your mates and say ‘g’day’ to the pink-vested Rovers.
