ACON – celebrate, don’t hibernate
As daylight savings has wound up many are thrust in to the reality that winter is well on its chilly way.
Far from a time to hibernate, people in the Northern Rivers of NSW tend to find relief in milder temperatures. This is a beautiful area that experiences a relatively warmer winter than our southern cousins and it’s certainly soggier, with much higher rainfall.
I’ve always been sensitive to seasonal change and research has suggested some people can be affected by Seasonal Adjustment Disorder Syndrome (SADS). If you feel a little blue and it’s not just a passing mood, why not take advantage of ACON Northern Rivers’ fabulous new counselling service.
Sessions can be either over the phone or face to face. Our friendly, experienced counsellors can assist you through any number of issues you may be facing. The cost, based on tax-deductible donations, starts from as little as $5 according to an individual’s income.
For our HIV positive brothers, ACON Northern Rivers is again hosting its much loved and anticipated Gay Men with HIV Retreat which runs May 6 – 10 in the beautiful Border Ranges. It is packed with fabulous activities such as massage, kayaking, yoga and bushwalking. The food is utterly scrumptious and it’s all very affordable.

The fortnightly Northern Rivers Luncheon Club is also a nurturing social event with delicious food. Coming up for Easter, the infamous and much loved Tropical Fruits host their Hot Cross Buns party.
We also boast a number of intimate parties and social events throughout the year in this stunning region. Check out the link to our newsletter on the ACON website, http://www.acon.org.au/communities/regional-nsw/Northern-Rivers/Newsletter
