Rural youth survey
Rural youth will launch a survey to understand the effects of homophobia in schools at the upcoming ALSO Rural Forum. The OUTthere Rural Victorian Youth Council for Sexual Diversity, an initiative of the WayOut project, will conduct research into the experiences of students and workers in rural secondary schools.
The survey will be assisted by La Trobe University academic Lynne Hillier who was behind the Writing Themselves In report.
The survey results will be summarised in a report which will be presented to the state government. Recommendations will be made on how rural schools can better combat discrimination.
info: ALSO Rural Forum is on June 25 & 26 in Ballarat. Registrations still open. Costs involved. For information visit also.org.au.
