Gay marriage action in store
Same-sex marriage activists are gearing up for what has been described as a “year of action” ahead to demand marriage equality.
Protests are being planned for November 28, two days after the Senate Committee is due to report on the findings of the Marriage Equality Amendment Inquiry.
Action is set to take place in most capital cities, including Melbourne. Sydney-based Community Action Against Homophobia co-convenor Ben Cooper said whatever the outcome of the report, people would take to the streets.
“For too long we have been treated as if our deepest feelings, our love and our families are second-rate, abnormal, unnatural and distorted… For too long we have been told we’re not equal,” Cooper said.
