Eagle Leather changes hands
One of Australia’s most well-known leather stores, Eagle Leather, has been sold to longtime employees BJ and Shane.
The store has been on the market for more than six months after current owner Brian Mier, 65, last year decided to hang up the whip after 16 years in the business.
BJ – who’s worked with Eagle Leather for six years – told Southern Star he was excited at the opportunity to take over the business and hinted at future changes to expand the store.
“We’re got lots of work to do at this stage but we’re certainly looking forward to taking over.”
Eagle Leather imports stock from more than 20 countries and caters to the leather, fetish and BDSM community.
BJ said Eagle Leather’s contribution to the GLBT community in sponsoring queer sporting groups and health events won’t change.
“We’ll still keep going with the support Eagle Leather has given over the years and continue to support the gay community not only with just our products but support the health and wellbeing of the community.”
Mier said he was pleased to leave the store in good hands and is looking forward to cycling, movie watching and travelling in his retirement, as well as conducting men’s health promotion evenings.
