ALGA inducts life members

The Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives (ALGA) will recognise the hard work and dedication of two volunteers when it inducts them as life members this weekend.
The ALGA invites everyone to attend as the organisation honours Helen Pausacker and Liz Ross at the open day on Sunday, May 27, 1pm at the archives.

The ceremony will be the second public life member induction in its history.

“It is important that we acknowledge the labour, love and commitment demonstrated by people who have given to the archives in exceptional ways,” ALGA president Daniel Marshall said.

“Indeed, as the founding generation of gay and lesbian archives ages, it is important that we highlight the dedication and the achievements of elders in the community as a way of ensuring that we tell our own histories as well as promoting mentorship within the LGBTIQ communities.”

The ALGA was established in 1978 and is one of only a few in the world.

The archives are located at the Victorian AIDS Council, 6 Claremont St, South Yarra.
