Walk for AIDS a success despite rain
More than 120 people turned out on Sunday November 23 to participate in the Walk for AIDS, which this year raised $24,000 for people living with HIV.
The rain did not deter celebrities and general supporters alike from taking part in the two kilometre walk through the Botanical Gardens. Among the crowd were television personality Anton Enus, Housing Minister Tanya Plibersek, City of Sydney Liberal councillor Shayne Mallard and media identity Ita Buttrose who acted as MC for the event.
It was really great to see so many people braving the elements to get out and show their support for our cause, said BGF president Bev Lange.
AIDS Awareness Week culminates with World AIDS Day on December 1 which will be commemorated with a candlelight vigil outside Paddington Town Hall from 8pm.
