New Mardi Gras wants you
While Sydney’s gay and lesbian community regains its collective breath after Sleaze, the hard workers at New Mardi Gras are busily preparing for next year’s arts, sports and cultural festival.
And artists, performers, musicians, writers, producers, venues, sporting teams and individuals, and community groups have until next week to put their hands up and get included in the festival program.
New Mardi Gras Festival board sponsor Diane Minnis says she wants next year’s festival to have events of interest to every interested person.
We want something that’s broad, inclusive and represents all sides of our community, Minnis says.
Next year’s festival will work in a similar way to the 2003 festival. While New Mardi Gras will not curate it, all events will be listed in the official program.
The festival will run from Friday 6 February until Saturday 6 March.
To apply for inclusion in the 2004 New Mardi Gras Festival program, download an information kit and application form at www.mardigras.org.au. For more information, contact festival coordinator Enzo Camporeale on 9557 4332.
Applications need to be received by Wednesday 15 October.
