Memorial for beloved 78er

Friends, family and supporters of Lance Gowland will gather to remember the ’78er’s life and activism next week.

The memorial will be held Saturday 22 November, 2pm at the Gaelic Club on Devonshire St, Surry Hills.

The Pride History Group has collected photographs and video clips of Gowland for a presentation.
There will also be speeches from those whose lives he touched.

Gowland was known in the gay community for driving the only truck during the first Mardi Gras protest march and staying on to establish the Mardi Gras organisation. He was also involved in the Communist Party of Australia and a number of human rights causes such as refugees held in mandatory detention.
