DJ Ronnie James
DJ Ronnie James gives us his favourite five tracks at the moment. You can catch him playing every Friday night at Midnight Shift Club.
EVERYTIME (Wayne G Midnight Shift Anthem Radio Edit)
Funky G feat. Shauna Jensen
A brilliant cover of an okay Britney Spears track. When Shauna sang this on New Year’s Eve she brought the house down, and this fantastic remix by the legend himself just brings back the memories.
It’s eight minutes of pure Wayne G heaven with the trademark synth stabs we have come to know and love.
ALWAYS ON MY MIND (Phil B Mix)
Pet Shop Boys
In my opinion the Pet Shop Boys’ finest moment, and now it’s back. The original extended mix from 1987 has been tidied up and re-edited to become an absolute stormer which I just can’t get enough of. Bring it on!
WRECKING MY NERVES (Chris Cox Club Mix),
Gioia Bruno
Chris Cox (of Thunderpuss fame) pulls out another choice remix, this time of a diva who’s really unhappy. She’s pissed at a guy and she makes it quite clear.
This track with attitude gets pushed up to the next level with a mighty fine remix.
WHERE WE CAN BOOGIE
Disco Darlings
Although this one’s been floating around for a while I could not do a music review and not mention it.
Of the millions of bootlegs of Tweet’s Boogie 2Nite, this is the only one done to perfection, a short, sharp, sweet and slick re-do that gives me goose bumps just writing about it.
Funky chunky house at its best. A personal favourite.
LOSE MY BREATH (HQ2 Dream Mix)
Destiny’s Child
As there were no decent mixes of Lose My Breath, something had to be done.
Then presto change-o, this was born, a mash-up of Lose My Breath and the HQ2 club dub of Dream’s He Loves U Not, one of the better mash-ups to come out for a while.
