Council to host gay forum
A forum for LGBTI people in the Inner West will be held in May to highlight the area’s increasingly queer-friendly outlook.
Featuring speakers from local queer-friendly community organisations and a guest appearance by comedian Brent Thorpe, the forum has been organised by Marrickville Council in their efforts to reach out to the Inner West’s LGBTI community.
The forum will also inform attendees about the initiatives council has already enacted to improve services for queer residents.
Marrickville Mayor Victor Macri said the forum would prove helpful in council’s focusing on events relevant to its LGBTI constituents.
“Consultative events such as these assist Council in developing improved communication and co-operative relationships. The feedback will feed into council’s planning and guide council’s development of locally responsive events and services,” councillor Macri said.
INFO: The forum will run 5pm-9pm, Wednesday May 15 at Alexander the Great Club (160-164 Livingstone Rd, Marrickville).
