Meldrum on road to recovery
UPDATE:
Australian music icon Ian “Molly” Meldrum has been successfully transferred from the Alfred Hospital to Epworth Rehabilitation Centre to continue his recovery.
Meldrum’s brother, Brian Meldrum, said the music legend is still not allowed visitors but well wishes have been passed on.
“As well as his physical recovery, doctors are carefully monitoring his post-traumatic amnesia, and he continues to need minimum stimulation as part of that treatment,” Brian Meldrum said.
“He has a long rehabilitation road ahead of him, but we’ll keep you informed of his progress and thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts, for your concern and love.”

Music legend Ian “Molly” Meldrum is said to be making a steady recovery after falling from a ladder at his Richmond home last month which left him in a critical condition in hospital.
Meldrum fell while putting up Christmas decorations and was rushed to hospital suffering fractures to his skull, ribs, shoulder and vertebrae, and a punctured lung. He was treated for swelling in the brain and was on life support.
The 65-year-old has been in the Alfred Hospital in intensive care since December 15, but will now be moved to a private rehabilitation centre.
Meldrum’s brother, Brian Meldrum, said the Aussie music icon was showing positive signs of a slow but sure progress.
“Doctors said they were pleased with the progress being made by Molly, and that he was moving closer to being transferred to private rehabilitation,” Brian Meldrum said.
“They emphasised, however, that his recovery, while proceeding well, would still be a long, slow process.”
