Funding call heeded
The National LGBTI Health Alliance will receive $660,000 over the next three years from the Department of Health and Ageing.
“This is a recognition by the Department of Health and Ageing that the Alliance has an ongoing contribution to practical health and wellbeing issues,” Alliance acting board chairwoman Susan Ditter said.
“The funding allows the Alliance to plan its work program, and provides stability for the operation of the Alliance office.
“This includes … improving mental health outcomes, increasing the availability of LGBTI-inclusive aged-care services, and raising awareness of issues affecting the health of people of diverse sex and gender.”
The Alliance has also approved a three-year strategic plan to guide its work on health advocacy until 2015.
