Faker releases record for free
Australian band Faker are letting fans download their new album, Get Loved, for free from December 2.
In an honest email to fans, lead singer Nathan Hudson admitted that after a less than well-attended tour and people unsure of who or what the band is, it became apparent that a January release date for the album wouldn’t work.
“I truly believe that the thing that can most work for this record, Get Loved, is giving it away and allowing it to have some of the life it was meant to have,” Hudson said.
“After some careful negotiations [with EMI], we as a team have figured out that we can give our record away for free and get back to work on the next one.
“If we hold this record back any longer, it’ll just feel like we’re taking the piss.”
Faker will now head back into the studio to start work on their new album.
Get Loved will be available for download on December 2 from midday at www.faker.com.au
