Dancin’ to the top of the bridge
MUSIC can take people to brand new heights and set their hearts soaring, and for the first time ever you can get your moves on at the highest point atop one of the world’s most famous icons, 134m above Sydney’s world-famous, sparkling harbour.
Following on from the wildly successful Mardi Gras Climb on the Sydney Harbour Bridge of the past two years, this year’s event will be set entirely to music.
As you sashay your way to the summit of the bridge, a retro 80s soundtrack will have you boogying all the way to the top.
The three-and-a-half hour climb is an iconic trip to take in Sydney and you’ll be rewarded with dazzling views of the city during the most exciting time of the year: Mardi Gras.

Climbers are encouraged to don their sexiest flouro leggings, massive hair and take it back to the 80s as they scale the important landmark.
If funky music and fashion isn’t enough, once you get to the top of the Mardi Gras Climb 2016 a karaoke machine, novelty box and shiny disco ball await you so you can rock out with your friends.
The novelty box is packed full of fun and climbers can pop on a crown and cut shapes to ABBA’s Dancing Queen, don the famous headdresses while busting out moves to The Village People’s Macho Man or pull on some hairy monster gloves and do their best little monster hands with Lady Gaga’s Just Dance.
Climbs are available for the morning, afternoon, twilight and even at night, so a night time dance off on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge during Mardi Gras is entirely possible.
Massive tunes will get you strutting to the top, so we’ve put together what we thought would be the perfect soundtrack to get to the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s The Mardi Gras Climb 2016:
Take Me Higher – Diana Ross:
This song is a no-brainer to be included on your soundtrack for the Mardi Gras Climb 2016. Soaring lyrics and an upbeat tempo from the Queen of Disco will have you grooving all the way to the top.
I’m Coming Out – Diana Ross:
How groovy is this track? You’re going to swoon and shimmy all over that bridge.
Love on Top – Beyonce:
Snap your way to the summit with multiple key changes, dizzying positivity and overall good times. Enjoy this live version of a breathy Beyonce because that will most likely be you when you get to the end of 1002 steps.
I Should Be So Lucky – Kylie Minogue:
What is the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras without Kylie Minogue. Some old-school Kylie is totally appropriate for this because really, how lucky are you to be doing The Mardi Gras Climb 2016? So amazing.
Never Gonna Give You Up – Rick Astley
The 3.5 hour Bridge Climb is a once in a lifetime experience, but let’s face it, the climb will test you physically. So don’t give up. Imagine how great it will be when you get to the top.
Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson (feat. Bruno Mars)
No explanation needed, this song is a red-hot party starter.
We Are The Champions – Queen
This one’s for you because you made it to the top, you legend.
The Mardi Gras Climb runs from 25th February to 9th March, with tickets available from today at www.bridgeclimb.com/mardigras
