A BOOM for the nation’s capital over the past few years has seen what was once seen as a quiet, buttoned-down town branching out and creating its own alternative and sophisticated social scene.
Few bars have encapsulated this emerging and bustling scene as the Treehouse Bar, located in the heart of the city centre. Previously Bar 32,
Treehouse Bar was established in 2013 and boasts a loft-style layout, styling a 1920s art-deco theme with a modern twist. High ceilings and the low industrial lights meld together to provide subdued, soft lighting perfect for a hot Canberran summer afternoon of casual drinks. Visually appealing and functional, the bar’s layout is cleverly designed and will have anyone who enters instantly immersed in its aesthetics.
The eye catching four-metre maple tree laced with fairy lights is an immediate conversation starter as it greets those on the ground floor. The tree theme continues upstairs with a second bar and a cocktail lounge available for private functions.
Owners Nick Tuckwell and Mike Kadiski wanted to create a space in Canberra where patrons could eat drink, socialise and dance all in the heart of the growing city. Boasting a delicious pub food-inspired food menu as sophisticated as its surroundings, amazing appetisers and entrées beckons you to continue onto their selection of burgers and gourmet hot dogs.
Recipient of the 2013 ACT Bar of the Year Award by Australia Bartender Magazine, Treehouse is a welcomed and different approach to freshening up the nightlife of the once subdued capital.
