A toast to gay art
Points of Difference have announced they will hold their next special dinner event, titled Sivilised Supper: Toy Porn 2, at the NG Art Gallery and Mission Restaurant & Bar in Chippendale on Friday, July 29.
Despite the provocative title, there’s no pornographic element to the evening. Guests will be treated to a three-course dinner and a private viewing of the gallery’s upcoming exhibition Toy Porn 2, a series of hyper-realistic acrylics (including He Looks Better In Vinyl, pictured) by gay artist Nick Stathopoulos.
After a champagne viewing of the artworks, guests will be invited downstairs to Mission Restaurant for their meal. During the three courses, Gallery director Nicky Ginsberg will facilitate a chat session with Stathopoulos.
“We did our first ever dinner event here at Mission and NG Art Gallery back in 2008 and it is fantastic to be able to kick off our next series of Sivilised Suppers from here. Not only do we get to share a great meal, but being able to meet Nick and share in his wonderful works will make for a very special evening,” event organiser Adam Bold said.
“Our aim is to provide a great night out with good food and wine, and a chance for people to be social and meet new friends.”
In keeping with the theme of supporting gay artists, the dinner will also donate $10 from the $95 price of every ticket purchased to the Queer Screen SOS Fund, to assist them in producing queerDOC and the Mardi Gras Film Festival.
Stathopoulos’ works will also be available for purchase on the night, subject to availability.
