LGBTI scholarships open
LGBTI students attending high school, TAFE or university can now apply for next year’s round of Pinnacle Foundation scholarships.
The foundation offers students aged 16-24 scholarships worth thousands of dollars and a mentor to support students in their personal and professional lives.
This year, Pinnacle awarded 14 young people across Australia with scholarships and mentors.
In July the foundation awarded its first transgender scholarship recipients for the first time in its three year history.
Since it began Pinnacle has provided almost $140,000 in grants to 25 young people in Australia.
Foundation chairman Sean Linkson said the organisation was about helping young people achieve their full potential.
“There’s a whole generation of young LGBTIQ people who are marginalised or disadvantaged simply because of their sexuality or gender identity,” he said last month.
The 2013 round for scholarships is now open until October 15.
