Time to test the west
Art exhibitions, outdoor events and film nights are just some of the 18 events announced at the 2013 GOWEST launch last week at the Substation. GOWEST is a Hobson’s Bay City Council initiative to hold queer events during the Midsumma Festival for LGBTI people living in Melbourne’s western suburbs and its visitors.
Hobsons Bay Mayor Angela Altair and Midsumma Festival chairwoman Lisa Watts opened the GOWEST launch event on Thursday, December 6.
Running from January 13-February 3, other GOWEST events include a storytelling workshops and a youth dance party. The more theatrical events include Monologue of a Deaf Woman and Between the Cracks performed by Yana Alana.
Sporting events include a free sailing day, Bent Kranks bike ride and a croquet event.
Hobson’s Bay City Council has run GOWEST events with Midsumma since 2009.
