Global fund for LGBTI equality
The leaders of Britain’s three largest political parties have backed a new global LGBTI fund for equality, the Kaleidoscope International Diversity Trust.
Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron, coalition partner and Liberal Democrats leader Nick Clegg, and Labour leader Ed Miliband have all backed the organisation in public statements.
The group’s honorary president is the Speaker in the UK House of Commons, John Bercow, and its goal is to provide support to LGBTI communities around the world in seeking equality.
Angela, a simple fact! There are dozens of countries where homosexuality is still illegal, including some where there is the death penalty! Do you really think that in those countries that Bi, Trans and Intersex issues are going to be considered before L and G? I think not! The social and sexual revolution has progressed through womens’ lib, gay lib and has moved onto BTI! The Kaleidoscope Trust has an enormous task ahead, especially working for the decriminalistion of homosexuality in many, many Commonwealth countries. I think that is why the British Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition attended the launch of the charity. The British Government rather than cutting foreign aid (because that is not the answer), see an organisation such as the Kaleidoscope Trust being able to assist NGO’s fighting for decriminalisation in countries where homosexuality still exisits! There will be flow on benefits for all people ( as it should be) in due course.
You may wish to do some fact checking – the Kaleidoscope International Diversity Trust website only talks about gays and lesbians – L and G – not LGBTI or variations of that.
Well that’s it, I’m relocating to the UK
