Opera Australia goes international
Two of Opera Australia’s most successful shows of 2008, Carmen and My Fair Lady, will be seen on international stages in 2009.
Opera Australia has been invited to co-present Bizet’s Carmen at the National Chiang Kai-shek Cultural Centre, coordinated through the National Symphony Orchestra in Taipei, which is one of the leading orchestras in Asia, Opera Australia CEO Adrian Collette said.
We are thrilled to be part of this exciting collaboration which combines the creativity of internationally-renowned director Francesca Zambello with the hands-on expertise and experience of Opera Australia and the wealth of artistic talent in Taipei.
The company will give four performances at the Cultural Centre in Taiwan in July.
Meanwhile, Opera Australia’s award-winning My Fair Lady is bound for New Zealand. The show has already played to sell-out houses in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane. It now crosses the Tasman for a co-production with The Edge at the Civic in Auckland from 25 March.
