Radio days for ALSO
The ALSO Foundation has started its own community show on Melbourne’s gay and lesbian radio station, JOY94.9.
The show, hosted by dab radio hand Kath Duncan (Radio National, TripleJ and ABC local radio), is split into three sections focusing on interviews, news and providing a voice for community groups to discuss what’s happening.
Duncan is also behind ALSO’s new group for deaf and disable GLBTI people — Quip — with Greg Axtens.
ALSO CEO Crusader Hillis said the weekly hour-long show would allow ALSO a chance speak with its support base.
“We hope to celebrate some of the lesser known heroes in our community, along with delving into the things that make us a unique and vibrant community,” Hillis said.
“It allows ALSO to support our community in a tangible way, and hopefully will encourage listeners to take a more active role in shaping the organisation’s future.”
JOY general manager Danae Gibson welcomed the new show and said collaborations with community organisations like ALSO were an important way to reach the GLBTI community across Victoria.
Tune into JOY Tuesday’s at 11am.
