Mardi Gras music video pays tribute to Freddie Mercury
AN official Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras music video features moustaches, white singlets and a royal robe in a tribute to the late frontman of rock band Queen, Freddie Mercury.
In the video, the volunteer dancers are led by Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham, alongside drag queen Joyce Maynge, drag king Rocco D’Amore, and So You Think You Can Dance luminary Rhys Bobridge.
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir also lend their voices.
The clip was shot in one continuous and unedited take on Pyrmont Bridge in Sydney’s Darling Harbour.
Filmmakers Rock Your Box were asked for the third year in a row to shoot a music video for the Mardi Gras season.
Last year, a recreation of Cher’s Turn Back Time video was given the seal of approval by Cher herself, who tweeted: “What could be more fabulous than a Cher-off! You have my blessing!! Rip it up Aussie boys!”
